A Retirement Village For Cattle Is As Great As It Sounds!
Krisna, just like other Hare Krishna devotees treats the animals with utmost respect.
New Govardhana is a multifunctional establishment. There’s a school, yoga retreat spots, swimming holes, natural streams, and massive organic vegetable gardens on the property.
Hare Krishnas love cows by virtue of Lord Krishna’s love for the bovine species cows in his time. The place was established by Bhaktivedanta Swaml Prabhupada, and he always said that there is a strong relationship between the happiness of mankind and the happiness of the cows.
The goal and aim of the devotees at New Govardhana is to “serve, worship, and protect” cows, and in the process, educate other people on the dynamics and importance of cow protection.
Training of the bulls depends on their natural temperaments. The temperamental bulls in the village are trained to carry logs on the hills, while the calmer ones are trained to interact with people safely during festivals.
“We want to show the positive nature of training bulls for the purpose of farming and helping out on the property.”
“We’re teaching the younger generation how to handle the animals and how to work with them”
Krsna plans to train young people on how to handle bulls, especially the feisty ones. Bulls can be quite dangerous if not groomed properly, so it is important to tame them properly, and train more people on how to do it.
