The other dog (presumably the injured dog’s brother) was very protective of the injured sister. When Denis tried to move to the female, the dog gave him warnings with growls and teeth. Although Denis had the best of intentions, the protective bother didn’t know that and he won’t take any risk.

The dog never separates from his sister but Denis didn’t give up so easily.
