What The Etchings Mean
It turns out that the engravings on the walls of the tunnel were quite crucial to ancient religious people to keep witches at bay, according to archaeological experts.
Officially, the etchings are known as Marian marks, representing the Virgin Mary and was considered protection. It was clear though that these etchings were hurriedly done and everyone wanted to know why.
The archaeologists believe that the discovery was from the 1300 to 1800 underworld era, where people feared metaphysical forces and sought to safeguard themselves, but there was more to be revealed.
