At 5:00 p.m., just hours before his murder, Lennon kindly signed an autograph for his killer — Mark David Chapman. At 10:49 p.m. after returning home to the Dakota located in New York City, Chapman fired five shots at the singer as he walked by. The musician tragically died of multiple gunshot wounds, external and internal hemorrhaging and shock.
