What to Expect When Going Into Labor
Water Breaks
Yes, at some point your water will break or perhaps be broken by the doctor. This fluid is clear and comes out uncontrolled. Some women think it was urine, but most know something different has happened. This can be a dangerous event, because once the cervix is open, infection can enter. To protect your baby and yourself, you need to enter medical care as soon as possible if your water has broken. Labor may not follow right away, but it often does. Either way, your doctor will keep you safe.
